Wedding Blues Support

One of our past brides warned us about the “post-wedding blues.” In her words: “Wedding blues are a thing. Not everyone is affected, but it is possible it can affect you. There's no more hustle and bustle of planning... Find something else to occupy your time and mind, and pamper yourself (you've earned it)!”. We couldn’t agree more. After the big day, it’s normal to feel a bit of a void when the planning frenzy stops. Here are some supportive tips to help you both transition post-wedding:

  1. Take a Honeymoon or Mini-Break: If possible, go on your honeymoon right after the wedding. If not, at least take a few days off together in a relaxing spot (even a cozy cabin or local hotel).

  2. Catch Up on Sleep: You’ll be exhausted. Make time to sleep – then sleep some more!

  3. Detox & Hydrate: After all the rich food and drink, reach for some healthy foods. Ditch the fried, cheesy stuff for a while and eat fresh fruit or veggies. Drink lots of water to rehydrate and recover.

  4. Unplug for a Bit: Turn off your phone (or at least avoid the social media scroll) for a couple of days. Give yourselves a break from the constant notifications and wedding posts.

  5. Plan Fun Post-Wedding Dates: Put something on the calendar to look forward to – a low-key date night for just you two, and maybe a casual hangout with close friends.

  6. Take a Family Breather: You’ve likely spent an intense few days with family. It’s okay to back off communications with the extended family briefly and just enjoy each other.

  7. Set a New Goal or Project: Channel your energy into a new focus – whether that’s setting up your home, adopting a pet, planning a future trip, or starting a new hobby or fitness routine.

  8. Tidy Up Finances & Paperwork: In the post-wedding mayhem, double-check that all your bills and wedding expenses got paid and nothing important was overlooked. (See Finance & Paperwork section for more on this.)

  9. Indulge in Couch Time: Finally, give yourselves permission to do nothing. Cuddle on the sofa together and binge-watch a show or movies that you both love.

These little steps can help ease the transition from the all-consuming planning phase back to normal life. You’ve earned some R&R and self-care after pulling off your big day!
