Emergency & Backup Items

Highlights

  • Build your own compact day-of emergency kit (travel sizes are perfect).

  • Rixey maintains a comprehensive “oh no!” closet of backups—ask us first before a store run.

  • Bring backups for tech and decor (batteries, spare cards, extra place cards).

  • We have weather and power contingencies covered; loop us in on any special needs.

Even with the best planning, sometimes things go awry—a stain on a dress, a headache from the excitement, or a speaker that suddenly needs batteries. We strongly suggest assembling a small emergency kit for the day, and know that Rixey Manor also keeps a comprehensive stash of emergency and backup items just in case. Here’s how to be prepared:

Bride’s (or Groom’s) Emergency Kit

We keep most things on hand. But these are the MUST brings:-

Medication

Face and hair products (we have them but your wedding day isn't the time to try a new brand)

Lens Solution

Eye Drops

Dress and Shoes for dancing in

What Rixey Has On Hand

We maintain our own “oh no!” supply closet. So if you don’t have something, ask us before running to a store. We typically have: pain relievers, bandages, deodorant, toothbrushes & toothpaste, mouthwash, floss, tampons/pads, baby wipes, lint rollers, super glue, safety pins, sewing kit, white chalk (great for covering a stain on a white dress in a pinch), earring backs, Q-tips, tweezers, nail clippers, bug spray, sunscreen, hand warmers, umbrellas, phone chargers, extension cords, duct tape, and even spare votive candles, lighters, scissors, and vases for decor needs.

We keep steamers and irons on-site (no need to bring those), as well as snack boxes for quick blood sugar boosts.

We also have extra linens, towels, and bedding in case of spills or if someone forgets to pack sheets for an air mattress. Our mantra is, “better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.” If you think you might need something obscure, ask us—we might surprise you.

Backups for Tech & Decor

We recommend bringing backup batteries (and chargers) for any electronics you’re using (like battery-operated candles, portable speakers, or your vows if you typed them on a phone—have a printed copy too!). For decor, pack a few spare place cards, a spare favor if they’re personalized (one or two extra in case of last-minute guest additions), and maybe a few extra invitations/programs for keepsakes or if one gets damaged. We often have blank cards and paper for emergency printing or hand-written signage, so we can make something on the fly if needed (like an extra menu sign or a last-minute “reserved” sign).

Weather-Related Backup

If it’s going to be hot, have water and maybe small handheld fans for your bridal party. If cold, have shawls or wraps for the ladies in sleeveless dresses. We keep blankets and umbrellas handy for guests if a sudden chill or drizzle hits.

Medical Needs

We are not medical professionals, but we do have a basic first aid kit on site. If you or a key guest have severe allergies or medical needs (e.g., someone needs an epi-pen), make sure they bring their gear and inform us quietly so we can be aware. We’ve had weddings with on-site nurses or doctors among guests which is reassuring, but if not, we can always call emergency services—we have the address and directions ready. That said, minor things like a scraped knee from dancing too hard—we can handle those with our first aid kit.

Peace of Mind Items

Sometimes just knowing something is available can relieve stress. For example, a backup boutonniere—if one wilts or falls apart, we can usually make one from extra flowers. Or a spare tie if a groomsman spills wine on his. We even have a spare set of simple wedding bands (a plain gold and a plain silver band) that we keep as props in case the real rings are MIA at ceremony time—true story! Fortunately, they’ve never had to be used, but hey, we have them.

The key message here is: Don’t panic. If anything goes wrong or if you realize something’s missing, tell us. There’s a very high chance we have a fix ready. Our team has been known to sew a bridesmaid into a ripped dress, run to CVS for allergy meds, and once, print a copy of a father-of-the-bride’s speech at midnight when he lost his notes. We’ve got your back.

So review your personal emergency kit, toss it in your car, and rest easy knowing that between your kit and ours, you’re basically invincible on your wedding day. 😉 Whatever happens, we’ll handle it and keep the day on track.
