Real Rixey: Danielle and PJ, and the Friendship That Started at a Bridal Show
This is not just a love letter to a great weekend. It is about one of the best industry friendships we have been lucky enough to form.

For anyone who reads this blog, you know that I do not often write about a couple''s wedding day — mainly because each journey feels too personal to fit neatly into a few paragraphs. Danielle and PJ''s wedding was different. When your mother is Angeline Frame, owner of Virginia Bride Magazine, you already know your story will be told in full.
This is also not just a love letter to a great weekend. It is about one of the best industry friendships we have been lucky enough to form.
I met Danielle at our very first bridal show. Her mother had organized it, and we were not putting on a great face — we had no real wedding photos yet, no established track record, and no finished ballroom (it was still under construction). I still do not know why Danielle stopped by our booth before the show opened, but within a few minutes it was clear we would be friends. Our mutual love of horses and our goofy, tall, sweet partners meant that by the end of the show, Danielle had promised that if PJ proposed, she would not want to get married anywhere else.
A couple of years later — a few more shows, a lot of weddings, and a couple of awards to back up the enthusiasm we had never lost — I got a call from Angeline saying that in the pouring rain, her daughter had officially gotten engaged to her long-time love. And that, true to her word, she wanted to get married at Rixey.
Both sides were a little apprehensive going in. Angeline, understandably, had her own extensive experience with venues and vendors throughout Virginia. We were a little cautious too, because a mother with that much industry knowledge and influence can sometimes find it difficult to step back and let the couple lead.
Much like that first conversation at the bridal show, the chemistry was immediate. Angeline made it clear from the start that she was there to facilitate Danielle''s vision, not her own — including fully supporting Danielle''s plan to ride her horse to the ceremony.
From that moment, planning felt easy. We worked with some fantastic vendors, stayed on top of the details together, and built timelines and table layouts that made sense for everyone. The day itself was sunny, with that particular mid-November chill that makes people want to pet the animals, drink hot chocolate, and stand on the terrace looking at the mountains. Every vendor — none of whom we had worked with before — delivered without a single issue.
I have taken a while to write this because I did not know where to begin, and I still do not feel like I have done it justice. We are genuinely grateful to the whole Frame family for welcoming us — as a new business, and as new friends.
On a personal note: I cried when Danielle walked down the stairs. That does not happen every week.
Review from Angeline Frame, Owner, Virginia Bride Magazine:
"We chose Rixey Manor for our daughter''s wedding and were thrilled with the venue and our experience working with Isadora and Ben. Not only do you feel as if the manor is your own home, but Isadora and Ben make you feel as if you are family and so welcome. Anything needed was provided at the drop of a hat to make the wedding go off without a hitch — warm blankets and a gourmet hot chocolate bar that magically appeared for our guests on a chilly November day are just some examples. The entire staff works to ensure that every detail is taken care of, and they execute it flawlessly. The setting was the perfect backdrop for the most beautiful wedding imaginable. Our guests are still raving over what a lovely time they had at this perfect venue. As the owner of Virginia Bride Magazine, having been in this business for 25 years, I could not be more thrilled with our experience."
